Clipping mask & text wrap in Illustrator

Use a text wrap to create a pretty visual effect as part of a layout. If the page lacks colour, you could also use a clipping mask to display some colourful graphics through the outline of a shape. I’ve used a lovely curvy ampersand to show you how I created the image above.

Make a paper jubbly with printed graphics

Paper jubblies are great to make. You can personalise one by printing your own graphics.

Typographical Anatomy

What have I got that makes you want to love me? Is it my body? (Alice Cooper)

Letterforms are curious and complex creatures. They bring mood, personality and attitude to visual communication so should be chosen with care. Issue an invite to the wrong family and they’ll wreck the place πŸ™‚

These quirky and intriguing little beings are made up of many parts and those parts are referred to as their ‘anatomy’.

This isn’t a definitive listing but does detail their more ‘animal’ side! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Apple Crumble

Apple crumble is delicious with cream, ice cream, custard or just on its own.

Ingredients

  • 2 or 3 large Bramley cooking apples
  • 200g of plain flour
  • 175g of sugar
  • 100g of butter
  • Tsp of cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 -3 Tbsp of water
  1. Rub together the fat, sugar and flour until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs
  2. Stir in cinnamon
  3. Wash, peel and core the apples. Chop them into small chunks and slices directly into your pie dish.
  4. Sprinkle some water over the apples to keep them juicy while they cook
  5. Sprinkle the crumble mix over the top of the apples making sure they’re all covered
Ready to go into the oven

Put your apple crumble in the oven, fan oven 170, gas mark 5, 375F for 25 – 35 mins or until the top is golden brown.
